Historic Fort Wayne

Fort Wayne was built in 1848 out of limestone. The usage of that spot apparently goes back to 1000 A.D. with approx 19 Native American burial grounds located there. Fort Wayne is one of three forts located in Detroit. The others being Fort Detroit and Fort Lernoult.

Theme
(city under seige [borrowed from above, maybe this could also be a city threat?])

Threat

Idea
The Forts built in and around Detroit were intended to keep foreign invaders at bay. Unfortunately they rarely succeeded in doing so. This could be a icon representing the indefensible nature of the city.

Historic Plan of the City

While not a location per-say, I think the fact that the original plan for the city called for a wheel and spoke layout. If you look to the centre of the people mover ring, you can see a central design, with Jefferson, Graitot, Woodward, Grand River, Michigan Ave, and Fort streets acting as spokes. Maybe they could be ley lines and the central hub of it located at Woodward fountain could be a loci of great mystical power? Gateway? Please of Accord (where the supernatural factions have sworn to conduct no violence?)

Michigan Central Station

This is a HUGE abandoned Train station, which to me could easily be converted into where the Winter court does their business some photos for your viewing pleasure ( http://www.seedetroit.com/MCS/mcsweb/ )

Theme
Urban decay

Idea

Renaissance Center

info

Group of seven interconnected skyscrapers in Downtown Detroit, Michigan, United States built in the 70’s as a downtown turn-around magic bullet.

Theme
(urban decay, city under seige)

Threat
(maybe one of power bases of white vampires and fords (even though GM center in our world))

Idea
Whether by accident or on-purpose, from the beginning it walled itself off from the rest of downtown. The isolation has only grown over the years as the number of security measures has increased. Instead of a symbol of hope for the downtown’s revitalisation, it only high-ights the depth and pace of the rest of Detroit’s decay.

TriCentennial State Park

Info

Threat
wilder fairie folk

Theme
expansion of fey

Idea
Although the more sophisticate fey of the court spend their time in <that>, their wilder cousins rule this increasingly wild park. Not only is becoming wilder and less inviting to civilization from a magic viewpoint but also from a societal viewpoint as drug use and crime is rampant (on the edges, even the crimes are afraid of its core). A gang of werewolves are the ruling criminal element, although not organized enough to expand beyond the park.

Zug Island

Info

Description: Zug Island is a man-made island dedicated to industry that is on the River Rouge, just in the southern outskirts of Detroit. The island was formed by a shipping canal that was dug along the southwestern side of the island. It is the site of a steel mill that has recently gone back into production and produces a massive amount of pollution in the surrounding area. Additionally, something about Zug Island has been producing strange sounds, tremors, and vibrations up to fifty miles away. Did I mention it was built atop an ancient Indian burial ground?

Threat

Idea: Something is causing those mysterious tremors, and it is no work of man…

Aspect: ?

The Packard Plant

Description (Stolen!): “Perhaps the most spectacular ruins in the entire city, the Packard Plant rests just off interstate 94 on the east side. Of the empty factories, it is perhaps the saddest, having once been a seat of innovation and produced the finest cars money could buy. The nearly mile long facility has long been quiet, serving as warehouse space for a while, and a destination for urban exploration, but recently security has been pulled, the once mighty facade was auctioned to the highest bidder, and the factory has been given up to the looters and the scrappers.” – Jalopnik.com

Theme

Idea: A clear picture of how far Detroit has fallen from its lofty beginnings.

Aspect: Graffiti Stained Monument of Industry

Further Ideas

This would be a good gang hideout as well if you wanted to do werewolves or ghouls:
